Steven L. Ward- Attorney at Law

Steven L. Ward was raised in Anoka, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school in 1971. He went on to St. John’s University, in Collegeville, Minnesota and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science in 1975. During his four years at St. John’s University, Steve participated on the men’s varsity basketball and baseball teams, where he was elected captain in both sports by his teammates. He also garnered All Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) honors in both sports and is a member of the 1,000 point club in basketball. Upon graduation from St. John’s University, Steve was a teacher of American History and Government as well as a coach for football, basketball, and golf at Hill-Murray High School in St. Paul, Minnesota. Steve also served as Assistant Bank Manager and Credit Officer at the Arizona Bank in Phoenix, Arizona prior to entering law school in 1982. Steve completed his legal education at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1985. Immediately following his graduation, Steve came to Hutchinson, MN to launch his legal career and has been here ever since. Steve is married to Jean Ward, and they have two children, Katie, a medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School and Brian, an undergraduate student at Georgetown University.

Steve is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), Minnesota State Bar Association, First Judicial District Bar Association, Real Property and Agricultural Law Sections of the Minnesota State Bar Association, and Qualified Neutral on Minnesota Statewide Roster under Rule 114 of Minnesota Rule of General Practice. Steve has also been involved in leadership roles for a variety of organizations including serving as a former member of the Board of Directors of the St. John’s University J-Club, past President of the St. John’s University J-Club, former member of the Board of Directors of the Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Church of St. Anastasia Educational Endowment Committee and Tuition Grant Fund Committee, former member of the Litchfield High School Site-Based Committee, former member of the City of Andover Planning and Zoning Commission, volunteer for the American Cancer Society, volunteer for the St. John’s University STAR Program, and former Chair of the Community Affairs Task Force and Finance Task Force of the Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce. Steve has also been actively involved with the youth of the Hutchinson area, spending thousands of hours as a volunteer girls and boys youth basketball coach, volunteer youth baseball coach, and cable television broadcaster for the Hutchinson High School boys’ varsity basketball games.
